English 450 offers a seminar
setting for the study of critical theory and contemporary fiction and
nonfiction, as well as poetry and film, with one of our goals being to
distinguish among various types of narrative. Just as we write critical
essays to explore issues of genre and Holocaust narratives, we write creatively to make connections with the texts in our course and
with the events of the Holocaust. You are invited to read some of our
creative writing from fall of 2005:
The collage that opens our
collection was inspired by the poetry of children in Terezin and created by
Jessica Long. The detail in the far right corner is from a sculpture by
Kenneth Treister entitled A Sculpture of Love and Anguish, which is
located in the Miami Beach Holocaust Memorial.
