Public policy and community service courses PPCS 100 Introduction to Public Policy and Community Service Examination of the meaning and interconnection of citizenship, politics, community, culture, religion, diversity, public policy, democracy, and service in todays society. Special emphasis on the relationship between service and democratic citizenship. Participation in a community service project. PPCS 200 Community Organizing Opportunities to apply a range of skills and methodologies, including but not limited to qualitative research, community-based research, participatory evaluation, asset-based community and leadership development, needs assessment, place-based analysis, organizational analysis and administration, public campaign organization and implementation, media campaign strategies, grant writing, grant administration and accounting, and meeting facilitation. PPCS 250 Politics and Public Policy PPCS 300 Race, Class Gender, and Sexuality PPCS 345 Sustainable Community Development PPCS 400 Practicum PPCS 450 Senior Seminar PPCS 460 Independent Study Off-campus work experience, jointly supervised by instructor and agency personnel. Minimum 120 hours field work plus on-campus assignments. Prerequisite: junior status; to be taken only by students who minor in Public Policy and Community Service. Pass-Fail only. |
